Hello,
In my first pregnancy I developed HELLP syndrome, which affects blood pressure, liver function and Platelet levels. With the only cure being delivery of the baby, my son Seth was born at 27 Weeks Gestation on March 8 2008. He weighed 1lb 5.6 oz and was 12 inches long. Seth was 48 days old the first time I held him in my arms. He did amazingly well on his own for the first 6 weeks in our home hospital in New Brunswick. After developing Necrotizing enterocolitis, he was airlifted to the IWK. Seth spent over four months at the IWK, fought many infections, pneumonia, had six surgeries, including an illestomy and finally went home at 132 days old, weighing just under 5lbs. Seth is now a Healthy, Happy two year old boy, other than mutiple scars, the lack of a belly button and being a little small at 22 lbs, you'd never know he faced so many hardships at such a young age. The IWK team kept us up to date and involved in Seth's care, and they gave us a sense of stability in the most unpredictable of situations. We wouldn’t have our little man here today if it weren't for the IWK team!

We will be forever grateful to our special friends at the IWK,
Many thanks from Lindsay, Mike and Seth Reynolds (baby Green, NICU 2, April 18 to July 17 2008)
