Dr. Donna Gilmour
"The research at the IWK encompasses new surgical techniques, vaccine and drug development, pain management, patient education and more. And it reaches centres across Canada and even internationally. The results of this research has implications not only for our patients, but for people world-wide."
Donna is a surgeon and researcher at the IWK. Specifically, her areas of specialty are gynaecology, urogynaecology, and the prevention of adverse events and their morbidity after surgery. She meets with patients pre- or post-surgery and creates online modules enabling patients to safely and knowledgably monitor their health after they leave the IWK. Dr. Gilmour’s research project started at the IWK, and has since grown to be recognized and practiced in other health centres across the country.
